Open Education Week (11-15 March)

Open Education Week is a five-day celebration of the global Open Education Movement, featuring online and local events around the world, video showcases of open education projects, and information. This event is organized by OpenCourseWare Consortium in order to raise awareness of both the movement and its impact on teaching and learning worldwide. Lot’s of great free resources and events!

As noted on their web site, Open Education refers to the growing set of practices that promote the sharing high quality educational resources and support learners to access education anywhere, anytime. Open Education incorporates educational networks, teaching and learning materials, open textbooks, open data, open scholarship and open source educational tools, collectively referred to as Open Educational Resources or OER.

Here at UofT we have a wonderful showcase of Open Educational Resources available on the open.utoronto.ca web site. Our recently launched University of Toronto Coursera MOOCs are an example of our activity in this arena.  Also, UTSC is hosting a special event on Re-Imagining Scholarly Communication on March 11th, 12PM – 3:30PM in AA160.
